Greetings Internet Campus,
Philippians 4:6-7 (New Living Translation) 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
I have lived in South Florida my entire life…and I’ve been a driver for a lot of years…however, there is one part of driving in South Florida that still gets me nervous. When my four tires roll past the county line into Dade county….I get instantly confused. Now I know that all of the streets are numbered….but which direction? I know that there are some major highways to use as reference points…but I’m not sure where they are! I know that I will be OK…just hit I-95 or I-75 and find my way back…but I still struggle down there. Why is this? If I know that everything will be OK and that the city planners have laid out the roads numerically…and that there is an obvious way out….why do I still get so confused? That’s an easy answer…it’s because I always do. I am a creature of habit. I’m used to behaving that way…
See where I’m going with this? Many of us live lives of confusion. Why? Because life is confusing sometimes! What am I supposed to do? Where do I go next? Why am I going through this at all? All valid questions. Now let’s look at my illustration above…we all get confused at times simply because we are used to dealing with difficult situations a certain way. We talk to friends, get books, seek advice…but forget the most important thing…that there is ALWAYS a way out. Confusion is not by God’s design. The Bible is designed as a map to help us when we are lost and need to find our way back.
Let me help here by giving us two revelations about confusion:
1) God will NOT leave you confused – Like today’s verse states…His peace will guard our hearts regardless of circumstances. God doesn’t want us to stay bewildered…but to look for a way out
2) Confusion is an opportunity for faith – NOT a challenge! - When we are confused…we have the choice to make…Do I worry? Fear? Doubt? Wonder? No, when we exercise our faith and lean on His promises of peace, guidance, and protection, we acknowledge God’s power and not our own.
Confusion in your life is one of those things that will come. We don’t know when or how…but there will come a time when you just don’t know what to do. Just do what I do…understand that you won’t always understand. God is in control. God’s peace is all we need. Keep your focus on Him and He will reveal the way to go…. Now if I could just find the 826 expressway….
