Thursday

Greetings Internet Campus,

Found this passage I thought would benefit you this morning...

Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while. —Mark 6:31

Fifty miles west of Asheville, North Carolina, I turned off the busy highway and drove the remaining distance to the city on the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. On that late October afternoon I drove slowly, stopping often to savor the mountain vistas and the last of the brilliant autumn leaves. The journey was not efficient in terms of getting to my destination quickly, but it was effective in restoring my soul.

The experience caused me to ask, "How often do I travel the quiet road with Jesus? Do I exit the fast lane of my responsibilities and concerns to focus my attention on Him for a time each day?"

After Jesus’ disciples completed a demanding period of ministry, He said to them, "Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while" (Mark 6:31). Instead of a long vacation, they had only a short boat ride together before being thronged by the crowd. The disciples witnessed the compassion of the Lord and participated with Him in meeting the needs of the multitudes (vv.33-43). When the long day finally ended, Jesus sought renewal in prayer with His heavenly Father (v.46).

Jesus our Lord is always with us whether life is hectic or calm, but there is great value in taking time each day to walk the quiet road with Him. David C. McCasland

Have you discovered that quiet road where you can just spend time with God?  Where do you retreat and get away with our Heavenly Father?  Mine is the morning shower.  I pray...and talk with Him....the white noise of the running water seems to block out any outside distractions...

How about you...are you spending good quiet time with God?  Where is your place of refuge...your retreat from hectic into the arms of Christ?

Hey Brian

Great devotional from Our Daily Bread this was awesome as I read it today. Have you ever read the devotional of My Upmost For His Highest. I recommend it to anyone who has a heart and is being led to grow deeper in your walk as a disciple and discipler Mat. 28:19,20.

God Bless You and keep my promise to be one of your Aaron & Hur as I pray for you and Pastor Troy.

I love my morning routine. Pastor Troy got me started but now I am hooked. I spend my time alone with God before waking the family for another hectic day. My favorite place is on my back porch weather permiting.

Trunk or Treat at Doral was wet cool windy and Fun.

Since about a week into My Naked Pastor I have been here blogging, journaling & reading the Word with you folks. Jesus has drawn me in & I have been drawn in by you guys & girls. I feel very blessed in our time of uncertainty, challenges, & sense of loss/gain. I thank our Glorious God, for He is worthy to be praised & honored. The anxiety, doubt & loneliness of our coming separation (Margaret & Clara in Indiana) does not weigh on my heart too heavily because of God's grace on me. I will draw away to my quiet place & soak in Christ's presence & KNOW that I am with the source of all goodness. My God provides all my needs according to his glorius riches in Christ Jesus!

I'm not a morning person as I tend to work late into the night. My quiet time lately has been after I drop my daughter off at school. We park at a baseball field near her school and we walk together to school. The walk back is my quiet time. I may park a little further soon to make the walk in both directions a little longer.
