Monday - "The Legacy of Living Right"

Hello Internet Campus Family,

Sorry this made it up so late today...

II Chronicles 29:1-2 (NKJV)
1 Hezekiah became king when he was twenty-five years old, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Abijah the daughter of Zechariah. 2 And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father David had done.

This week we're going to talk about legacy...what we will someday leave behind. What type of footprint will people see when they think about us in the future. In today's passage, Hezekiah is described as someone who did "what was right in the sight of the Lord."

Part of our legacy is the Christ-like example by which we live our lives. When people talk about you, do you think they used the adjectives - Godly, right, Christ-centered? If not, why not? As Christians we are to live lives which directly reflect God. We need to demonstrate that we know what is "right" to God and follow that direction. Too many times we become somebody different for different groups of people that we hang out with. Our definition of "right" gets shifted slightly to reflect the morals and values of our present company.

Right is right. There is no shade of gray.

If we are going to truly leave a lasting legacy of integrity, commitment, and character, we need to base our decisions on what Christ would do in our place. We need to remember that we affect people all around us everyday. The decisions you make and the words you choose to speak as a Christ-follower are observed and noted. People think that if a Christian says and does those things...they must be what God teaches...and thus, the right thing to do. If that's the case, our legacy must involve learning the right way Christ wants us to live...and executing it daily.

What will your legacy be when it comes to the right way to live?

See you tomorrow,
Pastor Brian
