This week we are going to take a look at last weekend's lesson... "I Do"
Genesis 1:27
So God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
The answer is much more complicated than it might appear... I have married many couples who say they can't wait to get married so that they can begin to "mold" their mate...to change their behavior over time. I've learned in all my years of ministry that this simply doesn't happen. Trying to change your spouse's tendencies just leads to ever-increasing levels of resentment. Now before we go on...I'm not talking about violent or abusive tendencies....those need to be dealt with immediately (I suggest some good Christian counseling).
I'm talking about the simple stuff...what interests your mate? What is their favorite way to relax? How do they handle stress? Do they like to communicate a lot or a little? There are so many ways that married people are different...choose today to celebrate these differences rather than try to make your mate just like you. I truly believe that as much as our similarities help in getting us together, our differences allow our relationships to grow deeper. We learn an opposing point of view, a different method, a new way... That's how marriages thrive..new discovery and the celebration of how God created you (and them) to be.
Write it Down: In your journal, ask God to reveal a difference between you and your spouse. That didn't take long. Now write a prayer to God asking Him to help you understand and appreciate it rather than fight against it.
See you tomorrow,
Pastor Brian

Brian you have such insite the gift to speak from the heart. To celebrate the difference between man and woman and be glad God made it that way.The difference in the flesh so easy to see but to see the emotional difference you can't look with just your eyes it goes beyond the five senses right to the pure spirit of mankind.
