Wednesday "Good Choices"

Greetings Internet Campus,

Hebrews 13:4b (NLT2) "God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery."

Today's passage is an interesting one...it presents two criteria for God to judge us by...our immorality and our sexual focus...let's take a look at each one.

1)  Immorality - What does God mean by this?  In this passage, He is talking about making good moral choices.  Decisions that line up with God's will for our lives... whether single or married, making God-honoring life choices is important.  Many people ask me where the boundaries are in this...it's actually pretty easy...our moral compass needs to be the Word of God....the Bible.  Want to know what to do about cheating?  It's there.  How about telling lies?  There too.  We may be tempted to set our moral compass with a bias toward our own opinion of what right and wrong is. When it comes to moral decisions, there can be only one true way to make good ones...follow scripture's teachings for your marriage and otherwise.

2)  Sexual focus - The Bible uses the word adultery.  When we break the vows that we have shared with our spouse under the eyes of God and been with another person sexually...we have committed adultery.  God judges us because of that choice.  But let me take it a step further...are you having an affair on your spouse in your mind?  Is there a person or persons who you fantasize about having sexual relations with?  The Bible tells us that we have committed adultery with that person as well...

Matthew 5:27-28  "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'  But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

It doesn't necessarily have to be a physical affair...just our own secret lust can cause us to bring God's judgment to ourselves.

Overall, it is important to use the Bible to make good moral choices and to keep our hearts and minds pure in the sexual realm.   I am praying for everyone on the Internet Campus in this area.... Building a strong marriage depends on our abilities to follow both of these in our lives.

See you tomorrow!
Pastor Brian
