Greetings Internet Campus,
Acts 8:36 (NCV): 36“While they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. The officer said, "Look, here is water. What is stopping me from being baptized?"
Good question...what is stopping you from getting baptized? What is in the way? If you have already been baptized..what is stopping a family member or friend? Here are some common questions about baptism.
1) Why get baptized?
2) What will my family/friends say?
3) Is the water holy?
4) How can I get baptized?
That's what we're going to look at this week...these four statements. Let's take a look at question/barrier one..."Why get baptized?"
What's so important about baptism? This one's easy...because Jesus modeled it. After being tempted in the wilderness by the devil...Jesus looked for John the Baptist to baptize Him. Of course, John didn't feel worthy to baptize the Son of God...but Jesus insisted. Jesus knew that He had to model baptism to show other believers what their first step of obedience should be after salvation.
How about you? Have you showed the world that you committed your life to Christ? It's sometimes equated to a wedding ring. The ring doesn't make you married...it tells the world that you are. Baptism doesn't make you saved...it tells the world that you have made that important decision.
Why get baptized? Because Jesus asks us to in obedience to Him...and He modeled it for us. Are you ready? This weekend join us either on campus (Sunday) or at Dania Beach!
Write it Down: In your journal, write a prayer for those considering baptism this weekend.
See you tomorrow!
